Hey there and welcome to my blog!

My name is Mark and I’m a 31 year old husband an father of two (one boy and one girl). Between my wife and I, we pull in a decent living but there is just one problem… We’re too financially dependent on our day jobs (particularly mine). Now don’t get me wrong, I like my job, I’m just not keen on being so dependent on it. If I didn’t rely on the income, or better yet, if my job didn’t provide an income, would I still put in the 40+ hours per week? Probably not.

I started thinking that I need to add some diversification to my income. Just like they tell you in the world of investing, never keep all your eggs in one basket! If I could add enough alternative income to replace my day job I would no longer be financially dependent on it. This would open a whole lot of doors.

In an ideal world all of the income my family needs would be generated passively and/or through activities I do because I enjoy them, not because they’re necessary to earn an income. So the key is to reach a point where I live my ideal lifestyle while earning a sufficient diversified income to support my family. I call this “QUIESCENCE”.

Quiescence is defined as: A state of being non-active.

For the purpose of this blog, quiescence will be defined as a time when financial income no longer needs to be actively pursued through undesirable means.

Through this blog, I hope to explore, analyze and try different methods of earning income that will not detract from an ideal lifestyle. Some will work, some will not, but I’ll put it all out there on this blog. This is my quest, I hope you’ll join me!
