This afternoon I received a paypal payment of $25 from moola.com. If you’d like to try to win some money yourself, get your free invitation here (I’ve got 99 to give away). I had actually forgotten that I had requested a payment from moola.com. You might be wondering what moola.com is and why they sent me $25. Let me explain…
Moola.com is a site that allows users to win/earn money in a variety of ways…
- Search and Win – by using moola’s search engine you are eligible for instant win prizes. When I first signed up for moola.com (back in 2007), I would consistently win three times a day just by performing normal searches. The value of each win was anywhere from $.01 - $1. Supposedly there were prizes up to $100 but I never received anything over $1. Eventually, for whatever reason, moola.com removed the instant win feature. At that point I stopped using the site. However, search and win is now back!
- Instant Win – This is another feature that was cancelled. Occasionally while using the site, an instant win wheel would pop up. As with search and win, the prizes I received ranged from $0.01 - $1.
- Place a Wager on an Online Game - This is the main method for earning money at moola.com. When you sign up at moola.com, you’re given $0.01 in moola cash. You can choose to wager your penny against on a quick and simple flash game with another member. If you loose, he gets your penny, but don’t worry; Moola.com will give you another. If you win, you get your opponents penny and are eligible to wager $.02 on your next game. Moola.com has different levels of wagers. .01, .02, .04 .08, .16 etc. all the way up to $10,737,418.24. Of-course, you can play at any level you choose, just as long as you have enough money to wager. there were three games to choose from when I was active at the site, but today there are 7 additional games. When you choose to play a game, moola.com will ask you how much you’d like to wager and pair you up with a suitable opponent.
- Booster Zone – The booster zone basically offers revenue sharing for affiliate products. If you’ve read my post on Freebie Trading you’ll notice the similarities. Moola.com presents offers and products to members and they’ll pay you some moola in exchange the affiliate commission they earn. I never did actually use this feature.
- Referrals – The final way to earn money on moola.com is with their referral program. Moola.com has a tiered referral program that is four tiers deep. So when someone you referred (1st tier) requests a payment, you receive 4% commission, 3% commission for their referrals (2nd tier), 2% for 3rd tier and 1% for 4th tier. So far I’ve only referred a few friends, none of which stuck around long enough to request a payment.
How Does Moola.com Get Money to Pay Members?
Moola.com receives money in a number of ways…
- Advertisements – when you play a game on moola.com you are first presented with a short video advertisement like a TV commercial (sometimes they are TV commercials). This is the main business model and idea behind the site.
- Affiliate commissions – as mentioned above, the Booster Zone generates affiliate commissions from offers you complete.
- Up-Sells to Members – moola.com gives you an opportunity to skip the video advertisements displayed before games by purchasing ad skip credits.
- Ad Clicks on Search Engine? – I read that the new search engine is run by another party so I’m not sure if they actually make money off this (i’m sure they do in some manor). Basically the idea is that they would receive money from clicks on sponsored links in the search engine.
Overall moola is a really cool concept that allows you to make money by having fun playing games and searching the net. Something many of us do daily anyway. I have been away from moola.com for over a year now (after they discontinued search and win as well as instant win). However, it looks like one of these, if not both are now back, so I might have to check it out again and see if it’s worth participating again. If you’re wondering where the $25 Paypal deposit came from, when I stopped using moola.com I had about $55 in my moola account. I recently decided to pull some of that out to see if they were still around and honouring payment requests. Looks like they are.
In order to sign up with moola.com, you’ll need an invitation. I’ve got 99 free invitations to give out right now so click here if you’d like to try it out.
