What I Did This Weekend

Hope everyone in my corner of the world enjoyed a great weekend! As for me, I spent mine in my basement. My wife packed up the kids on Saturday morning and headed off to the lake to give me some “basement time”. You see, we had our house built 5 years ago before we started having kids. Over the years I’ve been tackling projects (built a deck, landscaping, driveway etc) as money and time permitted. 5 years ago our house seemed huge… today we’re wishing for more space for our growing family. Anyway, one of the last projects I need to tackle is to finish our basement to add some precious square footage. This project has been going on for about a year now. With all the things going on in life, I’m having a hard time finding the time to finish the job as quickly as I’d like.

I try to keep my weekends free for working on the basement and am making very slow but steady progress. The summer has been less productive than I would like but that’s because I’ve sacrificed a few days to enjoy some summer activities with the kids. I also lost the month of July to a business trip to India. I decided to commit this long weekend to focus on the basement and was able to complete the vapour barrier installation. That’s one step closer to completion and one step closer to getting my weekends back!

I have a feeling my aspirations for creating alternative income is going to be somewhat similar to the basement project. I don’t have much time to commit, but if I’m persistent and continue to take action on a regular basis, I know I can reach my goal of quiescence.
